Wednesday, 11th December 2019 is Rose’s 60th Birthday. A date that had long been in the calendar to celebrate with family and friends. Even with best laid plans for retirement, it was not to be and, after being diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma In August 2016, Mike sadly passed away on 28 February 2017. Willen Hospice was Mike’s chosen charity with his running events, including the London Marathon. He often trained around Willen Lake and would have run past the Hospice many times. During the final stage of his illness, Mike received exceptional support there, he was comfortable, pain free, well cared for and this helped him prepare for the next stage of his journey. It meant that he could help all of those who loved him, accept our future, when he was gone. After he died, Willen Hospice continued to support Rose and her family. When Mike was in Willen, he told Rose and those who visited him, to keep on having fun, sharing laughter with friends and family, remembering the old times and making new memories. Wednesday, 11th December, 2019 is still a landmark day and a fulfilment of the promises made to Mike.Updates
